I think we can all agree that 2022 has had its fair share of craziness. At any given point in 2022, there has been a detrimental life or world event. Everything is affecting everybody. I, personally believe you cannot allow these types of events to completely derail your business. I want to make an impact in today’s world. Think about it.

Major retailers, grocery stores, doctors’ offices, restaurants, and other types of businesses are not shutting their doors because of these events. And no one considers them to be insensitive because of that. So why should entrepreneurs be deemed insensitive if they decide to continue on with business as usual even when world events happen?

Making an impact requires growth.

There’s only so much we can control. In order to make an impact in today’s world, or to be able to really do certain things, I have to keep my business running and making money. I want to be able to donate to certain causes, but the only way I can make that kind of impact for those causes is if I am bringing revenue into my business. And I can’t do that if I shut my business down every time something happens. If there is a cause that you feel very strongly about and you want to continue to make an impact, you have to continue to grow.

I think this is like a money mindset issue for so many of us.

We feel guilty about continuing to want to make money. But what we have to understand is money allows us to make an impact. Money is a means to make the impact we want to make in this world. It’s like an energy. I’m not saying it’s the only way to make a difference or that it’s the only thing that you can do. But when you can donate to certain things, you can help that organization to make an impact.

I want to be able to be a safe place for other women and if they get into a situation they need to get out of. If my business isn’t making any money, then I can’t help make that impact. So I want you to really think about that and keep it in perspective.

You don’t have to share your beliefs on all of these things socially either.

I mean you will never see my opinions on any kind of social, or political type situation because all it does is open up room for arguments. If I felt as though it could be a productive discussion, that would be one thing. But unfortunately, social media has turned into this battle of opinions. And I‘m not willing to get into those arguments because the reality is that you’re never going to change somebody’s mind. People feel the way they feel.

I don’t feel as though I need to share my beliefs on social about it. Stay focused on what you can control and the impact you can make. What you can control is your actions and continuing to grow your business and make money so you can contribute to the organizations that can make an impact in today’s world.

I do not think continuing to grow your business despite world events is insensitive.

And I want to see us empowering one another to continue through these things so that we can make an impact.  Because it’s the entrepreneurs, the strong-willed people like you and I, that are sticking it through that are going to be the ones to make an impact. But we can’t do that if we’re broke. So don’t allow these world events to derail you.

You have to continue moving on. The gas stations aren’t shutting down because of any of these things. Walmart isn’t closing its doors because of a world event. Doctor’s offices are still continuing to do business. You don’t view your local grocery store as being insensitive because they’re not shutting their doors down every time a world event comes up.

Business needs to proceed as normal. If you are in a corporate environment, they’re not going to close their doors due to a world event. So why should entrepreneurs feel guilty about it when it’s part of being a business owner?

It is your job as a business owner to continue to run your business and make an impact.

Stop letting social media and the online world tell you that you’re being insensitive and that you’re being a poor business owner if you continue on as normal. The world still needs to continue on. We have to create what little sense of normalcy we can and focus on what we can control. And that’s our actions and the impact we can make.

You can still make money and then you can make a bigger impact.

That’s what I want you to remember. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Even if you want to send me a private message, I would love to hear from you. This is something I feel very strongly about.

I want more of us to talk about it because I think we need to empower each other. This is lifting each other up and empowering everybody to continue to grow, be the successful entrepreneur and business owner that you know you can be, and make an impact in today’s world. But to do that, you cannot let every single thing derail you.
