Get Comfortable Promoting Yourself

Have you ever heard the saying “New level, new devil”? If not, you might be wondering what that even means! Entrepreneurship stirs up a lot of these things I like to call “internal devils”. Sometimes we knew these “internal devils” were there and other times we didn’t realize they were there. And sometimes we thought they had gone away and then they resurface.

FACT: Every time you reach a new level, there are new devils that show up.

Having the right mindset for entrepreneurship is tough. Entrepreneurship is not for everybody. And that’s okay. For some people, it’s just too much because every time you enter a new level of your business, there are these new devils that show up. I know that sounds so negative. But there’s always going to be times where we question what we’re doing and impostor syndrome sets in.

The fact of the matter is that these new devils are not going to go away. It’s not like when you hit this next level, then everything will be fine. Or that you just have to get through this one barrier. The reality is the “devils” just change with each new level you achieve, and you just have to be aware of it.

New level awareness is key.

Awareness may not make it easier to get through them. But what it will do is it makes it easier to identify it and figure out what you need to do to actually get through to that. Listen to some of these high-level, super successful entrepreneurs.

One of my favorite people to listen to is Taylor Welch with The Daily Mind Medicine because he’s so honest about this. He talks about the struggles and mindset, getting bored, and feelings that make you question yourself. Every step of the journey brings up different internal or even external “devils” that don’t go away.

Reaching a new level in your business requires you to make a decision.

Now that you know that these devils never really go away and they will always be present at every stage of your growth. You have to ask yourself one thing. Do you have the mental and emotional capacity to deal with all of these different “devils” that are going to come up? If the answer is no, then don’t feel bad about it.

But stop trying to push through it. Just because you push through this one doesn’t mean a new devil is not going to come up with the next level. Each new level will always bring a new devil.

New devils are a sign of growth.

When you feel that level of discomfort, it is a sign that you’re like moving in the right direction. But again, if it takes a toll on you mentally, emotionally, and physically, then it’s not worth it because these devils don’t ever go away. They just change. New level=new devil.

So if you can go on with that mindset of knowing each new level brings a new devil, and you’re ready to conquer it, then you can get through it a little bit easier. But if you don’t what to deal with each new devil, then just be open and willing to admit that too.  We need to be more honest about that with each other and ourselves.  If you want to talk about the devil that’s kind of wanting you right now, throw it at me. I’m happy to talk through it. Trust me when I tell you I’ve probably been there before.
