Need new clients? Go Find Them!

Consider this your warningthis episode is full of tough love. But the tough love episodes are truly designed with your best interests in mind. So, here we go…If you need more clients, THEN GO OUT THERE AND FIND THEM. I know…I know.  It’s a novel concept, but let me just be honest with you. If you need more clients, you have to get out there and find them. 


Stop sitting at your desk…go find those new clients!

Stop hiding behind your computer, waiting for people to find you. It doesn’t happen 90% of the time unless you are at a point where you are getting so many referrals that you can’t see straight. Most of you are working towards being fully booked. So that’s not how it’s going to happen for you.  If you had referrals coming at you all the time, you wouldn’t be looking for new clients. So, if you have space, and you need new clients, get out there and market yourself. 


Sales do not happen just because you want them. 

They do not happen when you are sitting in a place of lack. Sales do not happen when you are sitting and wallowing in your own self-pity. Sorry, not sorry. I’m telling you this because I’ve been there. Where do you think my hashtag #stopwithyourbullshit came from? It came from me having a little pep talk with myself in the shower one day. I was going on and on about not having any new clients because nobody had any money.  And I just told myself, “Stop your bullshit and go out there and find the people that want to work with you.” 


You need to do some outbound marketing if you need new clients. 

What are you currently doing as far as outbound marketing? Did you try something once, and it didn’t work? If that’s the case, you need to try it again. People are busy. I was going through my DMs the other day, and saw that I missed a million messages. I didn’t do it on purpose. But I was BUSY! You have to understand that people are just busy. 

You think you’re putting it out there a lot, and that your efforts are going far.  But you have to do MORE of it. You have to do it more often, and you have to do some outbound marketing. 

You can even try freelancer websites like Fiverr or Upwork. There are some pretty good opportunities on sites like that.  Just because somebody is only willing to pay $20/hour doesn’t mean that’s what you have to quote them.  Some of them say they’re willing to pay for experience.


So get out there and send those proposals.

Put yourself out there. Do the work. Go out and find the clients. Ask past clients if they need more help from you. You can ask for a referral from somebody or partner with somebody else on a joint offer. Host a masterclass on something. Create a promotion. I don’t care what you do! Just put yourself out there! 


There are so many things that you could do to find clients.

It could simply be sharing that you have room for more clients. Tell people what you can help them with and that you have X number of spots available.  When was the last time you told your audience that you had room for new clients? Most of you haven’t done this.

I had a client tell me the other day that she only had one 1:1 client, and she really could take on a couple more. The problem was that she didn’t have anybody in the pipeline. So I told her that was because nobody even knows it exists. It wasn’t on her website. You have to let people know what you have available.  


Do yourself a favor and share it. 

Let people know that you have the capacity to take on new clients. Get over yourself, and tell people that you exist. Let them know you have room in your schedule. This is NOT desperation. You are not reaching out and begging for money. This is you putting yourself out there and letting people know what you have available.


Get out there and find those clients you need. 

There are a million ways you can do this, but hiding behind your keyboard is not one of them. You have to do some outbound marketing, and get out there and sell yourself.  Send those proposals. Let people know you exist, and that you can take on new clients. How many people think you’re booked out based on the content you are putting out there? Bottom line…if you need new clients, GO FIND THEM! They’re waiting for you! They just don’t know that you have time. So tell them already!
