Using Reflection As A Catalyst For Change

I believe 2023 will bring some massive change into the online space. I’m starting to see it already with some of the more prominent names in the online space like Marie Forleo and Amy Porterfield. Online entrepreneurs are leaving behind the ways of bro marketing and “big number” tactics and embracing the basics of business like networking, relationship/connection building, and developing a community. So what can you do to be prepared to make a change in your own business? It all starts with reflection and now is the perfect time to get started.

2022 has been a catalyst year for change.

One of the things that have been coming up lately with influencers such as Tyler McCall, Jenna Kutcher, and Marie Forleo is that you haven’t really been seeing much of their content. There is a huge shift going on in the market. My own observation is that it is coming back to a more heart-centered and serving place. It is no longer about:

  • Quick, fast cash
  • Empty broken promises
  • Big, massive numbers

Community is everything.

I think that community is going to be gold going into 2023. If you go and listen to Tyler McCall’s podcast, he talks about being bored with his business and getting frustrated, and feeling super stuck with it. He took several months off and rebranded. He’s no longer offering the same services.

Reflection is going to be the key to change.

I’m going to be talking a lot about reflecting. As you know, I love biz planning. I’ve got an amazing business planning program coming up. It’s going to be completely different than anything I’ve done in the past 5 years. As a side note, if you want in on the Biz Planning Program, or you want to be the first to know when it’s available, shoot me a DM. It’s going to be launching here in the next couple of weeks.

It’s always the first week of December. Trust me when I tell you, there’s so much more in store for it this year. I cannot wait. If you want to be on the waitlist or you want more information on business planning for 2023, please make sure you send me that LinkedIn connection and let me know.

As you’re going into 2023, one of the things that you really need to do is start focusing on reflection.

You have to start reflecting on your business and whether or not it still feels in alignment. Are you feeling:

  • Good about it?
  • Bored with it?
  • Stuck?

I want you to really think about what it is that’s causing those feelings. Maybe it’s one of your best years and you’re feeling super excited. You can reflect on that as well. Here are some things to focus on during your reflection:

  • What is really going well?
  • Why am I feeling so excited?
  • What’s really working?
  • How can I make this work even better?
  • Is there still something small missing that you want to add to it?

Reflection will help you realize what is important to you.

I’ve been having this conversation over and over with clients about the shift you’re seeing in the industry, and how people are understanding that this is not really what they wanted. I think a lot of them, especially these big names, fell into the social norm and trap of these apps. Create a course or a program, get as many people in as you possibly can, and sell it to the masses.  They’re burned out and not feeling it. This is something you need to be very mindful of when you are doing your own reflection.

A member of the Accelerated Business Alliance, Megan Winkler, talks a lot about burnout.  How to recognize the signs of it, and how to avoid it. Many people got burned out this year. So they’re taking some time to do some reflection and reevaluate.

I believe going into 2023 what you’re going to see is back to business basics. All of these things are going to be key going into 2023:

  • Basics of networking.
  • Having conversations.
  • Building relationships.
  • Networking effectively.
  • Understanding who your strategic partners are.
  • Collaboration.
  • Community.

Really think about that, as you’re doing some reflection on this year and moving into the next year.

  • What is it that you need?
  • Who do you need to surround yourself with?
  • What do you need to do to change?

I truly believe business is going to go back to normal business. The online space got a little crazy during COVID. I think you’re going to start to see it come back around.  Many people have decided this wasn’t for them. They’re not as prevalent.

Go look at your feed. Look and see who the influencers are you seeing are. I bet you are not seeing those influencers like you once did.

Planning week is coming up.

I absolutely love this time of year because I think it’s such a powerful time of year for reflection. Really take some time. If you need some questions for reflection, be sure to grab my Roadmap to Massive Clarity. It’s all about creating that clarity and reflecting on it.

Here are a few to get you started:

  • What changes are you seeing in your industry?
  • Who are the influencers in your industry?
  • What are they doing?

You need to know this not because I want you to follow them. I just want you to be mindful of it. It’s important to see because the ones that are still around are the ones that are coming back. If you look at Jenna Kutcher, she’s done such an amazing job. I just think you’re gonna see a completely different side to them. I’m all here for it because I think this is what we’ve needed for a long time.
