The More Fun You Have, The More Money You Make: Why Joy Is the New Business Strategy

A few weeks ago, I found myself pacing the kitchen, a knot of frustration sitting heavy in my gut. I was staring at my whiteboard filled with launch dates, email sequences, and sales goals and I was exhausted just looking at it. And I thought, “Is this really it? Is this what I built my business for?”

Maybe you’ve been there too. That moment when the business you once loved starts to feel like a chore. When the pressure to “do it right” overshadows the passion that got you started. When you’re clinging so tightly to what worked in the past that you can’t even hear the whisper of something new trying to come through.

And let’s be honest: the energy in the online business space right now? Wobbly. Unsettled. Everyone’s second-guessing. Offers are flopping. What worked last year just… doesn’t anymore. You’re not alone if you feel like throwing in the towel—or at least shaking things up.

But here’s the real truth about business:

You get to have fun AND still make serious money.

Let’s dismantle the myth that fun and focus are opposites. I used to believe that too. I even recorded an entire episode about how “Focus Beats Panic,” and I stand by the idea that focus matters. But lately, I’ve had to eat a little crow and admit that clinging too tightly to one offer, one plan, one rigid structure? That’s not focus, that’s fear masquerading as strategy.

And it’s sucking the joy out of business for so many brilliant entrepreneurs.

Here’s what I know now: when business stops being fun, everything slows down. Creativity dries up. Your energy drops. Everything feels heavier. And the offers that once lit you up? They start to feel like obligations.

That’s exactly where I found myself. I was all-in on promoting the Focused Visionary Accelerator. I love the program and it gets real results. But I realized I was ignoring an entire group of people who weren’t quite ready for it. I had two choices: let them go, or meet them where they were.

So I created something new. Not out of panic, but from alignment.

Not a huge pivot. Not a total reinvention. Just a light, fun offer that lit me up. And the second I gave myself permission to do that? Boom, my energy shifted. Clients started flowing in. Ideas started pouring out. And for the first time in a while, I felt excited.

How do you take action when business feels heavy?

Here’s what I want you to walk away with today, because chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re craving that same permission to make business feel fun again.

1. Ask yourself: is this fun or just familiar?
If you’re stuck in a rinse-and-repeat cycle, it might not be strategy, it might be self-protection. Just because it’s what you’ve always done doesn’t mean it’s still the right move.

2. Create without the pressure to launch.
Not everything needs a polished sales page. Sometimes the best offers start as a Google Doc and a conversation. Let the idea breathe before you throw it into a funnel.

3. Meet people where they are.
You don’t need 10 offers on your website. But having the flexibility to support people at different stages? That’s smart business. It builds trust, loyalty, and long-term growth.

4. Ditch the “shoulds.”
If your gut is nudging you to try something new, trust it. You’re the only one who has to live with your business every day. Make sure it actually feels good to you.

5. Remember: fun is a strategy.
Write it on a Post-it. Tattoo it on your arm. The more fun I have, the more money I make. Because when you’re lit up? People feel that. And energy sells.

Let this be your permission slip

You don’t need anyone else’s approval to run your business your way. Not your coach’s. Not your friend’s. Not even your past self’s. You get to evolve. You get to experiment. You get to follow the spark and trust that it will lead to something even better.

And if that means you create a new offer that only lives in a Google Doc and gets shared with five people? That’s enough. That’s more than enough.

You are more ready than you think. And if you’ve been waiting for a sign to bring the fun back into your business…this is it.
