Confused People Don’t Buy: Why Your Offer Isn’t Converting (and What to Do About It)

Let’s cut to it.

If you’re explaining your offer, showing up, talking about it in your content, and still hearing nothing but crickets, you’re probably talking over your audience.

Not intentionally. But you’re doing it.
And it’s killing your conversions.

This isn’t about your price being too high.
It’s not that your offer sucks.
It’s not that you need to add 12 more bonuses to “sweeten the deal.”

It’s that your audience doesn’t understand what the hell you’re actually offering.

They’re Nodding, But They’re Not Getting It

You’ve probably been in a coffee chat where someone goes on and on about what they do. They’re excited, passionate, fired up, and five minutes in, you still don’t know what they actually do or how it helps.

You’re smiling, you’re nodding… but mentally, you’ve checked out.

Your audience is doing the same thing to you.

And we all do this. Myself included. We know our work so well, and it seems so obvious to us, that we forget: our audience isn’t supposed to be an expert in what we do. That’s why they need us.

If you’re using industry jargon, overcomplicating your language, or trying to sound super clever and unique, you’re losing people.

They don’t see the connection between their problem and your solution.
And that disconnect kills sales.

The Problem Isn’t the Offer, It’s the Clarity

You don’t need to throw your whole offer away.
You don’t need to slash your price.
You don’t need to rebuild your program from scratch.

You need to ask one question:
Is my audience crystal clear on what they are actually getting?

If not, that’s your problem.

And I’ll own this too, I’m not immune. I’ve asked myself: “Do people actually understand what the Focused Visionary Accelerator is?”

So I went to my audience and asked. You can do the same.

How do you simplify your message so people finally get it?

  • Ask: What does it look like to work with me? Strip it down. Can someone repeat it back to you? Can they visualize it? Can they tell someone else what you do?
  • Ditch the jargon. “Strategic growth framework” sounds smart, but it doesn’t land. Say what you really mean. Say it how your client would say it.
  • Ask: Why does this matter? Every time you list a feature, ask yourself, “So what?” Weekly calls? So what? Unlimited Voxer? So what? Get to the why it matters.
  • Use real language from real clients. Coffee chats are gold. Pay attention to what people ask you. What language do they use when they describe their problem?
  • Test your message. Say it out loud. Send it to someone and ask, “What do you think I do based on this?” If they can’t tell you, rewrite it.

Real Talk: Your Offer Might Feel Overwhelming

One woman I talked to was interested in the Focused Visionary Accelerator, but didn’t sign up. I followed up and asked why.

Her response?
“It feels overwhelming. All those calls, all those pieces, I just don’t know how I’d keep up.”

That was on me. I over-explained it. I gave her the firehose version when she needed the quick hit. So I simplified it. Told her exactly what to focus on. What was optional. What actually mattered.

She signed up.

Not because I changed the offer, because I made it easier to understand.

Your Offer Isn’t the Issue. Your Message Is.

You might be jumping ship on offers that would sell if they were clearer.

So before you change the offer, before you run another promo, before you panic and discount, ask yourself:

  • Am I making it clear what someone actually gets?
  • Have I shown why this solves their specific problem?
  • Is it simple enough to understand without needing a degree?

Because at the end of the day, clarity sells. Confusion kills conversions.

Strip the fluff. Say what you mean. Make it obvious.

If you want someone to say “Hell yes” to your offer, they need to understand what they’re saying yes to.

And if you want my eyes on your messaging, send it over. I’m not a copywriter. But I am a strategist. I’ll tell you if it makes sense or not, straight up.
