Be Your Own Best Client This Year

Let’s talk about what it really means to be your own best client.

Not your best testimonial from someone else. Not what worked in theory.

I’m talking about stepping fully into your own work. Living it. Breathing it. Executing it.

While I was journaling, a question came to my mind one morning: “What’s actually going to make this year different?”

And there it was:

“I’m going to be my own best case study.”

The Energy Shift I Didn’t Expect

I had already done all of my business planning. I had a North Star. But it didn’t feel like a decision filter, that thing I could come back to every single time I needed to choose yes or no.

But when I wrote the words “Be your own best case study”, it was a full yes. This wasn’t about proving that my framework works. I know it works. I’ve got hundreds of testimonials, clients hitting big numbers, growing referrals, landing speaking gigs.

But I’d never fully turned that work back on myself.

How Many Outs Are You Giving Yourself?

I’ll be real: I’ve spent years giving myself every possible out.

And because I’m good at what I do, I’ve managed to get by. I’ve skated by more times than I want to admit. But I’ve hit a point where I’m over it.

I’m not interested in coasting anymore. I don’t want to be the person who’s doing just enough while everyone else gets my best.

This year, that ends.

Your North Star Should Hold You Accountable

Inside the Focused Visionary Framework, step two is always about your North Star. Not a goal. Not a vague intention. But a guiding vision that becomes your decision filter.

You should be able to ask:
Does this action get me closer to my North Star?
Yes or no.

Not “maybe.” Not “kinda.” You need a clear answer every time.

What Happens When You Treat Yourself Like Your Own Best Client?

  • You stop skipping over your own tasks.
Client work doesn’t come before your business priorities.
  • You block time on your calendar for you.
Not for more meetings. Not for more calls. But for the work that moves the needle.
  • You say no when something conflicts with your workout, your focus time, your priorities.
Unless it can be rescheduled, it’s a no.
  • You stop letting your own opportunities sit.
Speaking gig? Masterclass replay? You take action. You follow up. You do the thing.

My Word of the Year: Me

I struggled to find a word this year. But then it clicked.

My word is me.

Because I’ve spent too many years letting my own business take a back seat to everyone else’s. I’m done doing that. Not because my clients aren’t important, they are, but because I can’t be my own best case study if I don’t prioritize my own work.

And here’s what that looks like:

  • I reworked my entire CRM pipeline.
  • I applied to speaking opportunities I would’ve ignored before.
  • I followed up on things I normally would’ve put off.
  • I started implementing every piece of my own framework.

And the clarity, focus, and momentum that has come from that? Unreal.

The Results Will Come, Because They Have To

If I do what it takes to become my own best case study, the results will follow. It’s not about fixating on a revenue number. It’s about showing up fully in the work I teach.

If I commit to this process:

  • Revenue will grow.
  • Opportunities will land.
  • Debt will be paid off.
  • The business will expand.

Because you can’t fully live out your own strategy and not see results.

Let This Be Your Year, Too

You don’t need another stretch goal. You need a reason to show up for you.

So ask yourself:

  • When’s the last time you made yourself the priority?
  • When’s the last time you were your own best client?
  • What would your business look like if you followed your own process, fully?

This is about doing the right things for you.

Let this be the year you write your own case study. Let this be the year you stop skating by.

The framework works. Now it’s time for you to work on it for you.
